Bio, Work and Education
I was born, raised and spent most of my life in Tbilisi, Georgia.
As a child I experienced the restoration of Georgian independence from the USSR,
the crisis of the transitional years and the inertia of the Soviet system and
lifestyle, which still can be felt in the country.
I spent much of the high school years concentrating on technical subjects and
participating in tournaments with a considerable success. In my last grade
I was selected to the national teams for international competitions in informatics
(programming) and experimental physics.
That background led to studying physics in Tbilisi and while I did earn a bachelor's
diploma, I realized with growing clarity that my interests shifted elsewhere.
2006 - 2017
The next stop therefore was a master's program in journalism and media management,
followed by four years of work in media and web development and another master's degree
in quantitative analysis in social sciences, earned in 2014 from the KU Leuven
in Belgium.
On my return to Tbilisi, I continued working in media for a couple of years, meanwhile
becoming a founding member of Girchi - the only classical liberal political party
in Georgia at the time. The subsequent work at Girchi completed the formation of
my political philosophy and interests.
2018 - Present
By 2018 I shifted to working as a consultant and data scientist at the University of
Georgia, Tbilisi. Finally giving up the stints as a freelance web developer,
I also started materializing some of the project ideas and ambitions carried in my head
for years.
The largely homebound period of the covid pandemic allowed to experiment with
creative activities, such as photography, and better perceive the merits they hold for me.
Meanwhile I also started the long-envisioned project of creating optimized
and partly automated versions of the two intellectual games I had been
playing for a decade.
My occasional political involvement eventually also led to envisioning and founding
the classical liberal Franklin Club with several like-minded friends in 2021.
Since then I've been splitting my time between the four broad but interconnected
projects, reflected in the interests section above:
1. Consulting, research and data tool development at the University of Georgia, Tbilisi;
2. Continuing to build the Franklin Club in close association with the university;
3. Developing and launching the semi-automated intellectual games, while also envisioning
future web/mobile projects;
4. Seeking growth and experience in creative self-expression through arts and design.
